Obituary for Harold Edward Hobbs, Sr.

Harold Edward Hobbs Sr. age 97 of Smithers died March 11, 2018. He was born January 10, 1921 and was the son of the late Oder and Hettie Griffith Hobbs. He was also preceded in death by his wife Reva Hobbs.

He was retired from Semet-Solvay Coal Company at Harewood and a member of the UMWA. He was a US Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving: children Linda Hobbs Huffer and her husband Ray of Mt. Carbon, Harold Hobbs Jr. and his wife Deborah of Gauley Bridge and James Hobbs and his wife Donna of Cannelton; grandchildren Kenneth, Mistie, Keith, Mary Beth and Travis and 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Brother; Russell Hobbs of Tazewell, VA., sisters; JoAnn Baker of Ripley, WV, and Judy Fizer of Hugheston, WV.

Service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Jeff Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London with military honors. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the caregivers who assisted during Harolds illness.
