Obituary for Marjorie J. "Marge" Madison

Marjorie J. (Marge) Madison departed this life peacefully at her residence in Garden City, SC on July 30 following an extended illness. She was born on February 13,1927 in East Bernstadt, Kentucky, she grew up in London, Kentucky, where she called home.

She was a proud graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in English and Physical Education.

Marge was well known for her love of life; she was always very active and socially involved in her community. She was a beloved teacher and mentor to many students at Gauley Bridge High School, WV, where she taught for over 20 years and touched many young lives. She also coached girls' basketball and cheerleading, and was always proud of being a Driver's Ed teacher. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her many friends. She was active in golf, tennis, swimming, walking, water aerobics, and gardening in the summer. She also enjoyed playing bridge and, in later years, dominoes with her friends. For many years, she was a member of the Glen Ferris and Charlton Heights Methodist Churches, where she sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School. Marge will always be best known for being the absolute, number one, greatest and most loyal fan of her beloved Kentucky Wildcats basketball team. She never missed a televised game.

She was proceeded in death by her husband of 62 years, Gene R. Madison, and her mother and father Frank and Bertie Jones of London, KY.
She is survived by two sons, Victor S. and wife Elizabeth, Clarksburg, WV, Brad L. and wife Mary, Charlton Heights WV, five grandchildren, Brian S. Madison, Omaha Nebraska, Stacey L. Cornhoff, Oconomowoc Wisconsin, Rodney A. Madison, Waynesburg OH, Brad Madison, Cheyene WY, and Melissa N. Madison, Charlton Heights WV, 12 great grandchildren, Tyler, Brianna, Morgan, Hannah, James (J.T), Madeline (Maddie), Madison, Victoria, Macey, McKayla, Mckenzie, and Wyatt, and three special cousins, Denver, Dexter, and Ronnie McCowan, London KY. She also leaves behind one very special and dear friend who was by her side the last few years, Muriel Blancett.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, September 30 at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery. Friends may call beginning at 1PM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be given to Patriot Hospice & Palliative Care, 54 Bear Dr, Greenville SC 29605. Expressions of sympathy may be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com
