Obituary for
James William Vencill
James William Vencill Jr., 71, of Cannelton, died July 11, 2012, at home. He was born June 23, 1941, and was the son of the late James William and Frances Burton Lynch Vencill Sr. He was also preceded in death in February of this year by his wife of 52 years. He was a member and trustee of Montgomery Baptist Church, and he was retired as a federal mine inspector. He began his mining career at Cannelton Coal Company. He was a former teacher at Clay County High School and a former instructor at West Virginia Tech. Jim was a friend to many and known by all, and he dearly loved his children.
Surviving are his son, Mike Vencill and his wife, Karen, of Mount Holly, N.C.; daughter, Rose Legg and her husband, Joe, of Belle; brothers, John Vencill and his wife, Pam, of Charleston and H.L. Vencill and his wife, Bonnie, of Colonial Heights, Va.; and grandchildren, Amber, Kristin and J.T.
Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with the Rev. C.J. Rider officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
