Obituary for Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Slayton

Rebecca Lynn Slayton, 66 of Fayetteville passed away December 30, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born August 15, 1952 in Montgomery, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Alva Roy and Clara (Ostrom) Logan.
Left to cherish Becky’s memory are her loving husband of 47 years Larry Slayton; two daughters, Vickie Gay and her husband Rick, and Lori Slayton, and son Daniel Slayton all of Fayetteville. Becky’s heart will forever belong to her seven grandchildren Kylie and Kendall Malay, Parker Gay, Mychal and Amaya Grant, Marcus Hale, and Lily Jenkins. She was looking forward to holding her first greatgrandchild, Nolan, arriving in February.
Becky had very special relationships with her surviving sister Mary Moore and her husband Gary from Fayetteville, her “sister niece” Cherie Patrick from Centerville, Ohio, and her brother-in- law Roger Slayton of Fayetteville, as well as many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Brothers James Logan, Alva “Corky” Logan, and Peter Logan, and Sisters Carole Ann Peterson, Judy Holmes, and Betty Jane Slayton.
Becky was a 1971 graduate of Gauley Bridge High School. She recently retired from the Division of Corrections after 20 years of dedicated service. She was actively involved in and passionate about the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation and Communications Workers of America. She was the rock of her family and will be remembered for her loyalty, selflessness, sense of humor, birthday serenades, strong opinions and readiness to give advice. She enjoyed family, road trips, slot machines, heckling the refs, and Willie Nelson. She never missed a game, party, concert, recital, school activity or family event. She was always your biggest fan, and is now cheering from the grandest of stands.
Visitation will be Friday, January 4, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at O’Dell Funeral Home in Montgomery, WV. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm Saturday, January 5, 2019, with James “Eddie” Farley officiating. Final resting place will be Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, WV.
