Obituary for George Thomas Hensley

George T. Hensley age 91 of Powellton formerly of Falls View passed away on September 18, 2018. He was born September 10, 1927 and was the son of the late James and Maude Hensley. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Freda Hensley, sister Margaret Hensley, son George Hensley Jr., daughter Denise Mitchell, grandson Kyle Eppling and granddaughter Heather Eppling.

He was retired from Elkem Metals at Alloy and he was a veteran of the US Navy serving on the USS Hayes during World War II. He was a member of Huddleston Memorial Church and Elkridge Community Church.

Surviving is his wife of 15 years Nancy Treadway Hensley; sister Jean Bandy of Fayetteville; brother Kenneth (Lou) Hensley of Ravenswood; his special pet buddies Frasier and Cotton; daughter Gayle Keeling (Rick) of St. Albans; son Danny (Nancy) Eppling of Dalzell, SC; grandchildren Kathryn (Jeff) Harper of Charleston, Michael Hall of Falls View, Shonnet (Sean) Hensley, Todd Hensley and Lupita Laborde; 15 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Service will be at 2:00 PM Sunday at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Jeff Floyd and Rev. Greg Frances officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow.

Friends may call two hours prior to service at the funeral home on Sunday. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be sent to Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd., W., Charleston, WV 25312-2536 Expressions of sympathy can be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com
