Naomi Ruth Skaggs Aquino, 81, of Smithers, passed away May 27, 2018, at CAMC Memorial Hospital, with her loving and devoted daughter, nephews and friends at her side, after a sudden illness.

She was born November 24, 1936 in Winona, WV. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, and friend. She attended St. Anthony’s Shrine Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir.

Ruth retired as a supervisor from the State of West Virginia Department of Employment Security with 32 years of service. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She was always kind and giving.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Lawrence of 57 years, her parents, Burl and Naomi Fisher Skaggs, and her brothers, Fred and George Skaggs.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her daughter, Catherine “Cathy” Aquino of Smithers with whom she made her home. Also, surviving Ruth are sister-in-law, Janis Skaggs, brother-in-law, Lee Vaught, and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at St. Anthony’s Shrine Catholic Church, Boomer, with Fr. Leon Alexander as Celebrant. Entombment will immediately follow at Montgomery Memorial Park, London.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon John Divita.
