Obituary for Howard Lee Bowyer, Sr.

Howard L. Bowyer, Sr., 88, of Standard, West Virginia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday February 1,2018at home surrounded by his family and loving wife of 69 years. He was born on April 28, 1929 to John Carl and Edith Lena Bowyer of Kilsyth, WV. He was preceded in death by both parents and his siblings Jencie, Homer, Eugene, Jennings, Gaylen, Laraine, Virginia, Rosa. He was a graduate of Kingston High School, Kingston, West Virginia, and was a member of the Gallagher Church of the Nazarene.

No better story can be written then his unwavering devotion to his life and his family. As a devoted husband and father of 69 years he provided a good life for his family as a carpenter and a coal miner. Even now, after his passing at his home, he is still livingin the heart of his loving wife cooking and baking his favorite foods, in his hard working ways of his sons, caring hearts of his daughters, and in his hugs and kisses, and songs of laughter of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will forever be remembered and loved by his wife Katherine; his children, Edith A. Cales and husband Eugene; Howard L. Bowyer Jr. and wife Roberta; Matilda L. Bowyer; and Carl J. Bowyer and wife Brenda. He is also survived by his grandchildren: David Cales and wife Kerri; Tracy and ; Amy and Matthew Mitchell; William (Charlie) and Misty Bowyer; Erika Carroll; Valerie and Andrew Jones; and his great-grandchildren Haley, Geneva, Michael, Waylon, Bella, Samuel, Elijah, Anslee and Ashtyn, Robert, and his sister Betty Kessler who resides in Florida. He is loved by many and will be missed by all.Come join us in a celebration of life.

Funeral services will be held at O’Dell Funeral Home in Montgomery, WV on Tuesday February 6, at 1:00pm with Rev. Daniel Saylor and Rev. Matthew Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8PM on Monday February 5, 2018.
