Obituary for Charles Edward Fout

Charles Edward (Shorty) Fout, 81, of Charlton Heights passed away peacefully January 16, 2018, at Hubbard Hospice House after a short illness. He was born December 31, 1936 in Handley, WV.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years, Nancy Curry Fout; and his children Carrie Elizabeth Fout (deceased), Cathy Fout of Delbarton, Edie Cochran Lewis (Jason) of Morgantown, Andrea Fout Tinsley (Scot) of Scott Depot, Charles “Phillip” Fout (Stephanie) of Charlton Heights; grandchildren Amanda Treber (Alex), Caitlin Ramirez (Adrian), Emily Cochran, Ashley Cochran and Benjamin Tinsley; great-granddaughter Yanibel Ramirez; extended family and countless friends.

Charlie started his mining career as a Heavy Equipment Operator at Cannelton Coal Company and retired from Patriot Coal forty years later. He also spent many years working at the Exxon Triway and drove a school bus. He spent his retirement years working (piddling) at LKM Auto in Glen Ferris. Charlie was a 55 year member of Coal Valley Masonic Lodge #74, A.F. &A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, Beni Kedem Shrine and Order of Eastern Star Kanawha Chapter #38. He will be remembered most for his acts of kindness and pay it forward attitude. Whether you knew him by Charles, Charlie, Shorty, Phil, Phillip, Fout, or Papaw, he was a stranger to no one.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice for the wonderful care he received during his illness.

Service will be at 11AM on Friday, January 19, 2018 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Elder James Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park, London with Masonic Graveside Rights. Friends may call from 6-8PM on Thursday night at the funeral home.
