Obituary for Melvin Krisstopherson "Little Sugar Bear" Lyles

Melvin Krisstopherson Lyles aka “Little Sugar Bear “ 38 entered into eternal life Sunday, February 19, 2017. Melvin was born April 14, 1978 in Charleston, WV to June (Crowder) Lyles-Ward and Harry B "Sugar Bear" Lyles who has since preceded him in death.

At a very young tender age, Melvin accepted Christ as his Savior. Melvin fought a very long battle with dialysis. He was loved by many and was an active mentor to our youth. When you saw Melvin, he was most likely with his mom, who loved him entirely. Melvin returned to WV just a short time ago to administer care to his grandfather who has since entered into eternity. Most were not aware however Melvin’s favorite past time was cooking. Melvin held a degree in culinary arts and hospitality management from Trenholme State Community College Montgomery, AL. Melvin was known for his old saying, “I said what I meant and meant what I said.”

Melvin leaves his only child to cherish his memory, Tatiana of Montgomery, AL; Sister, Dominique Ward of Montgomery, AL , Junior, his best friend/pet and a host of cousins, friends and family.

Service will be 1PM Sunday, February 26, 2017 at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Dr. Emmett Patterson officiating. Melvin’s final resting place will be in Grandview Memorial Park 1313 Hillview Drive Dunbar, WV immediately following the service. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
