Beverly Ruth Van Meter of Port St. Lucie, FL formerly of Montgomery died November 7, 2013. Beverly was born June 23, 1956 in Montgomery and is the daughter of Marilyn Mason Van Meter of Montgomery and the late
Charles H. Van Meter. Beverly was named after her Aunt Ruth who preceded her in death.

Beverly graduated from Montgomery High School in 1974. she received her bachelors degree from Marshall University in Huntington. She taught school in London, WV for two years. She then extended her education earning a Masters degree at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. Her career led her to schools in VA, SC, NC, and Florida as a school psychologist.

Beverly had a keen sense of fashion and style. She enjoyed dancing, traveling and experiencing fine dinning. One of her greatest enjoyments was her pet bird, Sweetie . Sweetie is 17 years old and will miss the loving care Beverly gave her.

She is survived by her mother, Marilyn Mason Van Meter. Also surviving are her cousins who were more like sisters to her, Faith Haynie Cole and Dreama Haynie Nutter. She also leaves behind her faithful and loving companion Martin Cooper. She also had an extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery. Rev. Jim Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. Friends may call 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
