Obituary for Clarence Hobart Young

After a long and full life the Lord called Clarence Hobart Young age 98 to his eternal heavenly home on September 30, 2011.
Clarence was a lifelong resident of Kimberly, WV, born June 13, 1913 in the same home he lived in until the time of his death. His parents were George and Kate Schott Young. For nearly 50 years, he worked as an electrician and he retired from Carbon Fuel Company. He was a member of the Kimberly Church of God and had received the Lord’s free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. He was well-liked and was known for his love of the outdoors, fishing, rabbit hunting and his many dogs. Late in life, as his health began to fade, he lived at Blue Skies Elderly Care Home for a time where the residents and staff enjoyed his positive outlook and good humor. He spent five months at his home in Kimberly where he was lovingly cared for by his two daughters. The last several months he was in Montgomery General Hospital Extended Care.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Effie Null Young and Rosemary Brady; sisters Margaret Akers, Mildred Ash; brothers Bill and George Young and two sons-in-law Robert C. Foster Jr. and Mike Kendrick.
Surviving: daughters Suzanne Foster and Patricia Kendrick, grandsons Robert C. Foster, III and his wife Terri of Matthews, NC, Kenneth H. Foster and his fiancée Lisa Walker of Charlotte, NC and Shawn Kendrick and his wife Shawna of Sissonville; great-grandchildren Allison Foster of Lynchburg, VA, Zachary, Irina and Deanna Foster of Matthews, NC, Shea and Shia Kendrick of Sissonville and many nieces and nephews.
At the time of this loss, the family is comforted by their Christian faith and the promise of John 11:25, “Jesus said, I am the Resurrection and the life: he who believes in Me will live even if he dies”.
A visitation is planned at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Tuesday. A service celebrating Clarence’s life will begin at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London.
Our thanks to his caretakers Brenda Frantz, Kelly Smith, Home Health Workers and Montgomery General Extended Care employees. In lieu of flowers family asks donations be made to Kimberly Church of God, Box 141, Kimberly, WV 25118. Expressions of sympathy can be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com
