Obituary for Floyd E. "Gene" Cales
Floyd Eugene “Gene Cales age 69 of Gallagher died November 29, 2018. He was born in Crown Hill on January 6, 1949 and was the son of the late Ralph Clarence and Dorothy Ferguson Cales. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Johnny Chadwick Cales and Ralph Clarence Cales Jr. and his father-in-law Howard Bowyer.
He was retired a retired coal miner from American Electric Power and a member of the Gallagher Church of the Nazerene.
He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather and a friend to all he met and will be sadly missed by many.
Surviving is his wife of 49 years Edith Bowyer Cales; son David Eugene Cales and his wife Kerri of Rand; grandchildren Bella Rane Cales, Taylor Morgan Hypes, Jacob Michael Hypes and Levi Joseph Hypes and great-grandchild Jonah Blake; sisters Teressa Jones of Mechanicsville, MD, Yvonna Lauria of Leland, NC and Deborah Simpson of Leland, NC; brother Jack Wayne Cales of Brandywine, MD; mother-in-law Katherine Bowyer of Gallagher and brother-in-laws Carl Bowyer and wife Brenda of Pratt and Howard Lee Bowyer Jr. and wife Roberta of Corsicana, TX and sister-in-law Louise Bowyer of Gallagher.
Service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Pastor Daniel Saylor officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Park at Glasgow.
