Roy James  Proffitt,Sr.
Roy James Proffitt, Sr. of Chesapeake, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 8:25 AM. He passed away at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was preceded in death by his dad; Wilse Proffitt, mother; Florence Proffitt, brothers; Carol Proffitt, Jerry Proffitt, Martin Proffitt, and sister Shelby Proffitt. They all originated from Bear Hollow, WV.

He proudly served in Vietnam during his stint in the Army. He was also stationed in Hawaii. He came home where he met the love of his life, Deloris Ann Proffitt and they were married in 1968. They were together through thick and thin up until her death on August 10, 2009. He started in roofing around 1965 and was known as the best of his trade. He was a member of Roofers Local 185 of Charleston, WV. He was a member of Campbell Memorial Baptist Church in Smithers, WV. He cut his christian teeth on sermons from Pastor Chester Bird and more recently Pastor Jon Dillon.

He is survived by his current wife of four years Deborah; sons Roy Proffitt Jr. and wife Rebecca,Terry Proffitt and daughter Tamara Proffitt; granddaughter Brittany Proffitt; grandson Cody Proffitt granddaughter Star Proffitt and the light of his life two beautiful great-grandchildren Ayden and Dominic who loved their paw paw whole bunches and also sisters Rossetta, Lynda and Jane and brothers Glenn, Larry and Jeff; sister-in-law Patty Proffitt and her two children Carol Jr. and Melissia. We know he’s doing a big roof job for the Lord and we will miss him more than he will ever know. We love you Teddy Boy. I reckon youngin, Got any nails in your pocket.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

Service will be 1:00 PM Thursday at Campbell Memorial Baptist Church in Smithers with Pastor Jon Dillon and Rev. Chester Bird officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in Montgomery Memorial Park at London. Friends and family will visit two hours prior to the service at the church.
