Obituary for Bannan Edward Kees

Bannan Edward Kees of Collinsdale, WV passed away Monday, April 16th at home. He was 90 years old. He was born September 9, 1927 in Carter County Kentucky, to the late Homer and Leva (Marcum) Kees.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Wriston, sons; David “Dave” Kees of Union, WV and Andy Kees (Lora) of Collinsdale, WV, and daughter Susan Tyree (Kent) of Pax, WV.

He was preceded in death by his brother William “Bill” Kees, and sisters Gladys Nichols, Ethel Lucas and Vada Craig.

He is survived by his brother Robert “Bob” Kees (Donna) of Plain City, Ohio, sisters; Nola Clements of Collinsdale, WV and Kathleen Lively (Paul) of Oak Hill, WV., grandsons; Wayne Kees (Krisha) and Shane Tyree (Amy), granddaughters; Cheyenne Kees and Andi Kees, great -grandson Sawyer Kees and great-granddaughters Caroline Kees and Allison Tyree.

Bannan was an avid hunter and fisherman. In the springtime of the 1960’s and 1970’s on weekends you could find him trout fishing on Cranberry River. He and his family liked camping at Lake Sherwood. Bannan and his wife Mary were campground hosts for 26 years. They made many dear friends there.

He worked at Imperial Colliery Co. for over 35 years, retiring as a certified electrician. He was a 75 year member of the UMWA.

Service will be at 2PM on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Daniel Williams and Rev. Daniel Saylor officiating.
