Obituary for Ethel Mae Price
Ethel M. Dempsey Price age 94 of Cross Lanes, WV passed away on February 21, 2018 after a brief illness. She was born on July 30, 1923 in Mt. Carbon, WV to the late Frank and Myrtle Ford Lanham. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her first husband C. Melvin Dempsey, her second husband Herbert C. Price, daughter Shirley Dempsey Stepp, son Larry Allen Dempsey and four brothers and two sisters.
Ethel graduated from Montgomery High School and retired from Overnight
Trucking. She volunteered at St. Francis Hospital for 27 years , was a member of the Westbrook Garden Club and Homeowners’ Association. She was a long time member of the Cross Lanes United Methodist Church.
Surviving is her son James “Jim” Dempsy (Patty) of Smithers; brother C. E. Lanham (Nancy) of Irmo, SC; grandchildren Terri Dempsey Ray (Bill) of Sissonville, Thomas E. Stepp Jr. (Mischelle) of Spring, TX, Kristi Stepp Rouse (Kevin) of San Ramon, Ca, J. Michael Dempsey (Tiffany) of Campbells Creek, son-in-law Thomas E. Stepp of San Ramon, CA; sister-in-law Shirley Lanham Foster of Belle; six great-grandchildren,;two great-great grandchildren, special friends and neighbors and her beloved Bunco group.
Service will be at 12:00 Noon on Saturday at the Cross Lanes United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the church. Expression of sympathy can be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com
