Obituary for Larry Allen Holstein, Sr.

Larry Allen Holstein Sr., 74, of Swiss, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018, at CAMC Memorial Hospital. He was born May 7, 1943, in Gamoca, a son of the late Clisie Ezra Holstein and Sadie Elizabeth Carson Holstein. Larry was an owner-operator truck driver for many decades, where he took many young men under his wing and taught them either how to drive a tractor trailer or how to work on them. Even giving most a job or finding them gainful employment elsewhere. He loved seeing someone gain the skills to succeed in life. Larry had a deep passion for horses and many have memories of those wonderful rides and caring for the horses. He enjoyed teaching others how to ride and care for this beautiful animals.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Nichols Holstein; son, Larry Allen Jr. (Ann) of Ced Grove; grandchildren, Shawn, Larry III, Brandi, Lucas, Logan, Madolyn, Cathryn and Gracie; great-grandchildren: Sheldon, Adriana, Bryson, Zailynn, Camelia and Tyree, with another expected in June 2018; brother, Gary (Millie) Holstein of Charleston; sisters, Billie (Danny) Webb of Roanoke, Va., and carol Holstein of Fayetteville; plus a host of nieces, nephews and many many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clisie and Sadie Holstein; brothers, Lloyd Holstein, Romie Holstein and Jerry Holstein; sister, Donna Holstein and his beloved son, Sheldon Holstein.
A Celebration of his Life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, January 14, at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery.
