Obituary for Vada Belle Kees Craig

Vada Belle Kees Craig, age 94, formerly of Smithers, passed on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, in Winchester, Va. Born March 22, 1923, in Denton, Ky., to the late Homer Douglas and Leva Mae Marcum Kees. Vada was the eldest of eight siblings.

Vada was an active member of Old Kanawha Baptist Church in Pratt; singing in the choir and serving on various committees. Vada worked all her life - including helping her mother-in-law run a boarding house, clerking at Scott and Farley's, and later retiring from Montgomery National Bank.

Vada married Thomas Lee Craig on March 3, 1973, in Montgomery. They enjoyed many happy years before his passing in 200O.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Janice Jones of Stephens City, Va.; a grandson, Timothy K. Jones of Whiteville, N.C.; three step grandsons, James DuBrueler (Amy} of Stephens City, Va., Justin DuBrueler of Mechanicsville, Va., and Jerod DuBrueler (Stacey) of Moseley, Va.; eight great-grandchildren, Adam
DuBrueler, Emily DuBrueler, Ethan DuBrueler, Ryan DuBrueler, Colby DuBrueler, Jonathan DuBrueler, Allison DuBrueler and Heidi DuBrueler.

Vada is also survived by two brothers, Bannon Kees (Mary) of Collinsdale and Robert Kees (Donna) of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Nola Mae Clements of Collinsdale and Kathleen Lively {Paul) of Oak Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

ln addition to her husband, Vada was predeceased by infant daughter, Rebecca Jones; son, John Fletcher Jones Jr.; brother, William Thomas Kees; and two sisters, Ethel Elizabeth Lucas and Gladys Irene Nichols.
She is also predeceased by former spouses, John Fletcher Jones Sr. and Frank Downey.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 12, at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Brother John Wriston officiating. Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park, London, W.Va.
Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Vada will be remembered by all as a kind, sweet soul who loved the Lord.
