Obituary for Otis M. Smith

Otis Milton Smith, age 86 of Diamond, went home to be with the Lord on October 6, 2017. He was born on May 26, 1931 at Standard on Paint Creek to the late William McKinley and Ada Clark Smith. He was also preceded in death by his brothers; Earl, Herbert, and Kendall, sisters; Naoma Kidd, Aline Graley and grandson Shawn Smith II.

He was a member of Diamond Baptist Church and a retired coal miner from Imperial Colliery at Burnwell and a member of the UMWA.

He is survived by his wife Gladys Mae Perry Smith; daughters Roxanne White of Holly Grove, Carla Tolliver and husband Billy of Gauley Bridge and Mary Robinson and husband Pickle of East Bank; step-daughter Beulah Hemmings and husband Danny of Diamond; sons Shawn Smith of Cross Lanes and Charles Smith of Holly Grove; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren on the way and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank Hospice Care and especially his nurse Niki Adams.

Service will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Pastor Rick Pursley officiating. Burial will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens at Glasgow. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial gifts to Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W, Charleston, WV 25587.
