Obituary for James Leroy Hoffman Sr.
James Leroy Hoffman Sr. age 82 of Cannelton died May 26, 2017. He was born January 7, 1935 at Carbondale and he was the son of the late Sylvester "Huff" and Opal Walker Hoffman.
He was a retired coal miner from Cannelton Coal Company and a member of the UMWA local 8843 at Cannelton and a former member of the US Army National Guard.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years Betty Keith Hoffman; children Vicky Roat of Smithers, James Hoffman Jr. and his wife Patricia of London and Brian Hoffman and his wife Wanda of Kernersville, NC; grandchildren Crystal Sodder, Cynthia Bryant and Jamie Sue Hoffman; 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and one great-great grandson on the way; sisters Janice Arthur and her husband Ben of Cannelton, Kay Phillips and her husband Gene of Middletown, Del. and Linda Colyer of Del. and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. Jeff Floyd and Rev. Ron Eagle officiating. Entombment will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London.
