Obituary for Gary Wayne Tolley

Gary Wayne Tolley age 62 of Cannelton died Friday September 16, 2016. He was born July 20, 1954 at Charlton Heights and was the son of the late George Wilbur and Hilda Virginia Hinkle Tolley. He was also preceded in death by his brother George Tolley.

Gary graduated in 1972 from Montgomery High School and he worked since the age of 14 at Skaggs Enterprise, Delignes in Ansted, Royal Olds, Montgomery Motors, Denny's Texaco and Cannelton Industries. After being laid off he worked in mine rebuild shops, ServMax and Pro Tech Mining and he leased the Mobile Station in Alloy and he retired after becoming disabled in a mining accident on April 9, 1998. He was a proud member of the UMWA for 40 years. He volunteered his electrical experience to do the wiring at the UKV concession stand when it was built.

Gary experienced many injuries, health issues and always pushed onward. He love his children and loved watching them play ball. He loved to go to car shows, watching the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox.

Gary instilled the passion of mechanics and car restoration in Zach having done their first car when Zach was 4. He taught Jenny the basics she needed to know even making her rotate the tires on the blazer. Gary and Sue worked on many cars together and home remodeling projects.

When his health permitted he attended church with Sue at Hughes Creek Community Church. He gave his heart to the Lord in January 2014.

Gary is survived by his wife and caregiver of 31 years, three months and 8 days Sue Stanley Tolley; their children Virginia "Jenny" Tolley of Hansford and Zachariah "Zach" Tolley and his wife Jama of Cannelton; honorary grandsons Kendell Franco and Marlee Smith of Gauley Bridge; son: Jeremy and his wife Angie and 4 sons of Florida, daughter Amanda and Husband Justin and their 2 children of Fayetteville; niece Mistie Tolley Mathes and great nieces Caitlin and Carly; nieces and nephews Suzy, Joan, June, James and Jeff; sister Virginia Bain of Oklahoma and her children Kara and Julie; brother Paul and his wife Penny of Charlton Heights and their children Heather and her husband Forrest and Corey and his daughter Channing. Sister-in-law Lisa Fannin, nieces; Jessica (Bill) Hargrave and Rebekah Fannin of Ohio. Brother-in-laws; Charles (Ginger) of Stanley, OH., and Terry (Luanne) Stanley of Kimberly.

Service will be 11:00 AM Friday at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Pastor Gary Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London.
