Obituary for Betty Ann Tucker (Walker)

Betty Ann Tucker, 91, of Adena Village, Mount Carbon, died Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Doug and Lucy Bowers Hospice House at Beckley after a short illness.

Born March 30, 1925 at Beelick Knob near Meadow Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Lanty and Georgia Neil Walker. She graduated from Nicholas County High School where she was a cheerleader and a band member.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a son, Rex B. Bell, two brothers, Lanty “Al” Walker, Jr., and James O. “Jimmy” Walker, Sr. Her husbands, Claude Echols Bell and Ray Tucker, and a step-son, Robin Tucker.

Betty is survived by her sister; Wilma Ford of Montgomery, son; Steve Bell of Summersville, her son and beloved daughter-in-law, Sid and Drema Bell of Beaver, and three step-children; Melissa Laidlow, Roy Tucker and Rex Tucker.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Jennifer Conley, Heather Shifflett and husband Mark, Joshua Bell, Elisha Bell, Rebecca Bell, Jason Fowler, Mallory Bell and Jarrod Bell. Six great-grandchildren.

Betty was a loving and generous mother and grandmother. In the 60’s and 70’s, she often worked two jobs to provide for her children. After working as a C&P telephone operator prior to her first marriage, Betty later was a popular server at the Pine Room Resaurant in Montgomery and in her favorite job as the student pub manager at West Virginia Tech. She brought joy to everyone she met with her smile, sense of humor and passion for looking good in the matching outfits and jewelry.

Service will be 2PM Saturday, June 25, 2016 at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery with Rev. C.J. Rider officiating. Burial will follow at Montgomery Memorial Park, London.
