Obituary for Winsome Eve Youell

Winsome Eve Adam Youell, 92, passed away on February 14, surrounded by loved ones. Winsome was born to Andrew Davie and Evelyn Violet Eugenie Adam on June 6, 1923 , Myddelton Square, London, England. She Attended primary and secondary schools in England and Scotland and went on to attend nursing school in Edinburgh, Scotland. She was granted certification as a registered nurse by the General Nursing Council for Scotland in 1944. Winsome met James William Youell during his WWII service abroad. They married on the sixth day of February, 1946 in Dalmellington, Scotland and remained happily married for 59 years. Winsome became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1957 while raising three daughters. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was an active member of Boomer Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also an active member of the International Club of Charleston, WV through which she developed many lifelong friendships.

Winsome was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, James William (Bill) Youell. Winsome is survived by her three daughters Winsome Elizabeth Martin, Jane Youell Goldberg (Jack) and Liza Adam Youell, two grandchildren Stockton Martin (Amy) and Adam Martin and four great grandchildren, Katie, Aaron, Pete and Sarah.

Visitation will be held for friends and family at O’Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 with the funeral service beginning at 11am with Rev. Sandra Lawrence officiating. Expressions of sympathy can be sent at www.odellfuneralhome.com
