Obituary for James Ennis

James Enfield Ennis, 86, of Beaver, W.Va., formerly of Hansford, passed away Jan. 14, 2016, due to complications from heart disease.He was born in Mahan, on Oct. 13, 1929, and was a registered professional engineer in W.Va., Ky., and Va., specializing in interstate highway design. He was a graduate of West Virginia Institute of Technology and Kingston High School, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.From 1951-1953, he served in the 45th Infantry Division, 180th Regiment, Tank Company, in the Korean War. Upon his return, he married the love of his life, Betty, andthey began a 60 year journey that produced two daughters and much laughter.

He was a devoted and loyal husband, father, and grandfather, with a generous and giving spirit, and he never met a stranger. He enjoyed his career and work, and was a life-long patriot who was known for his quick wit, easy smile, and wicked sense of humor. He took pride in his beautiful flower gardens, which he tended with the same care, attention to detail, and concern that he showered on the people he loved. He was a fan of bluegrass music, football, and spending time with his grandkids

.He was preceded in death by his wife and soul mate, Betty Davenport Ennis; parents, Andrew Allen Ennis, Sr. and Beatrice Hicks Ennis; sisters, Mary Elizabeth EnnisDavenport, Jane Ennis Long, and Dorothy Ennis Facinoli; and brother, Andrew Allen Ennis Jr.

Left behind to cherish their memories are his daughters, Betsy Ennis Dulin and Cindy Ennis Limer; sons-in-law, John Dulin and Brian Limer; grandsons, Jack Ennis Dulin and Sam William Dulin; numerous nieces and nephews; countless friends and colleagues.The family gives special thanks for his friends and the staff at Villages of Greystone, where he decided to spend the last year sharing his wisdom, life stories, and family.Friends are invited to call at O'Dell Funeral Home in Montgomery from 6 until 8 p.m. Sun. Jan. 17, 2016.

Funeral service will be held at noon Mon. Jan. 18, at the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Davenport officiating. Entombment will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park at London.
